California State University Chico is where I went to college. Chico is a beautiful campus and one of it’s crowning glories is the George Peterson Rose Garden. I spent many peaceful times walking around this garden exploring the different varieties of beautiful roses. It is forbidden to pick the flowers from the plants so the only way to enjoy them is to stroll around the garden.
HOWEVER ……. Once a year the campus gardeners prune the rose bushes and the cuttings are free to anyone who is willing to try to propagate new roses from these cuttings. My dear husband happens to work at the campus and has bravely exposed himself to these flesh torturing plants to collect cuttings so I can have some of these beautiful roses in my own back yard.
Now, my father must have not only had a green thumb, but a whole green hand. He could take a branch off a rose bush, stick it in the ground, and a new rose bush would ALWAYS grow. Not so much for me.
I am going to use rooting hormrne and a mixture of soil and perilite for my little babies. I also recently saw where you can use honey instead of hormone dust so I will give that a try also.
So, here they are. Wish us all luck.
